Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

Date / Time

Sunday, November 16

Location

Bedford Alliance Church
8645 Jackman Rd Temperance, MI 48182

Operation Christmas Child brings great joy and the Good News of Jesus Christ to kids in need around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes!

Each box packed full of toys, school supplies, and personal care items becomes a tangible expression of God’s love. For many of these kids, it’s their first gift ever! With each shoebox gift, kids will also receive the gospel message and are given the opportunity to begin a relationship with Jesus.

You can participate in Operation Christmas Child by packing a shoebox gift and returning it to the church by Sunday, November 16!

How to Pack a Box:

  1. Find a standard-sized shoebox. You can leave it plain or wrap it, but make sure to wrap the bottom and lid separately. You can also use a small plastic container with a lid.
  2. Get a label. You can pick up a label at our OCC table or download labels here. If you choose to pay for shipping online to follow your box, that will include your label. Then, decide whether to pack for a boy or a girl and select an age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
  3. Fill your box with gifts. Select one high-quality “wow” item to put in your box, such as a doll, stuffed animal, or soccer ball. Then add other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. See suggested items.
  4. Pray for the child who will receive your box. You can also include a personal note and photo.
  5. Attach a label to your box and pay $10 for shipping. You can pay the shipping fee and print a label online, which will also allow you to track the location of your box. Pay Online. You can also pay with a check. Make the check out to Samaritan’s Purse and put Operation Christmas Child in the memo line. Place your check inside your box.
  6. Bring your boxes to the church by Sunday, November 16, and place them on the tables in our foyer.

FAQ's

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners with shoebox gifts filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching children with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These gifts are shipped outside of the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, famine, and disease.
You can pick up an OCC box from the tables in our foyer or use any standard-sized shoebox. You can also use plastic boxes with attached lid that is approximately shoebox sized. Boxes do not need to be wrapped, but if you would like to wrap them, please make sure the lid is wrapped separately.
See number 2 under "How to Pack a Box" in the text above for a link to suggested items for your shoebox gift as well as what you cannot include.
Because these boxes will be shipped internationally, the organization asks for $10 per box to help cover shipping and customs fees. Your donation will also be used to purchase gospel materials.
If you don’t want to make the $10 donation online, you can include a check in a Samaritan’s Purse pre-made envelope. Make checks out to Samaritan’s Purse and put Operation Christmas Child in the memo line.
Bring your filled shoeboxes to the church by Sunday, November 16.
You cannot select or specify where your gift is sent. You can, however, track where your box goes if you pay the $10 donation online using "Follow Your Box." To pay online or track your box, click the "Pay Online" link in number 5 above.
Yes! By paying the $10 donation online using Follow Your Box, you will receive a tracking number that allows you to see where your box goes. To pay online or track your box, click the "Pay Online" link in number 5 above.
We are not an official drop-off site for Operation Christmas Child. We will be collecting boxes through Sunday, November 16 and then taking them to an official drop-off location.
