Kairos Prison Ministry is a Christian ministry designed to bring God’s love to the incarcerated. Through a three-day program, Kairos volunteers share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus, giving inmates the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Savior.

The next Kairos program is the weekend of April 3-6 at the Toledo Correctional Institution, and you can help support Kairos through baking cookies!

Why Cookies?

After inmates complete the Kairos program, each inmate is given a Ziploc bag of homemade cookies. Homemade cookies may seem like a small token to most of us, but they are priceless to those who’ve been incarcerated for a long time. The Kairos team uses these cookies to help show the love of Christ and to encourage inmates to join the program.

Cookie Requirements

• Cookies must be homemade (i.e. no storebought cookies such as Oreos, Chips Ahoy, bakery cookies, etc.)
• You can use store bought cookie dough
• Cookies should not be coated in powdered sugar or frosted
• Don’t use burned or blemished cookies
• Try to keep the cookies 2-3 inches in diameter so they’re the same for everyone
• Don’t overbake cookies. Overbaked cookies are more likely to break during transportation

Cookie Packaging

• Package two dozen cookies (24 cookies) into one 1-gallon Ziploc bag
• Allow cookies to cool completely before bagging them so they don’t stick together
• Don’t put your cookies on a plate
• Don’t put anything else in the bag (notes, letters, pictures, etc.)
• Please label your bag if your cookies fall into any of the following categories: Contains peanut butter, Contains nuts, Gluten free, Sugar free, Dairy free
• If your cookies don’t apply to any of the above categories, there’s no need to label your bag
• If you’ve made your cookies well in advance, please keep them frozen until you bring them
