Repentance

Repentance

Christians and churches talk a lot about repentance. But what does it mean? It’s a big word with a pretty straightforward definition. Repentance is a change of heart that leads to a change in behavior.

When we do something wrong, we feel regret and guilt. We confess our sin to God and the people we hurt and ask for forgiveness. But simply apologizing and asking for forgiveness doesn’t lead to change. Only when we take steps to change our behavior do we show that we’ve truly repented.

If you’ve been holding in sin, you can let it out. Ask God for forgiveness. Ask the people you’ve hurt for forgiveness. Talk to someone about changing your behavior to match your change of heart.
