What is Kairos?

The mission of Kairos Prison Ministry is to give incarcerated men and women the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Savior. During a Kairos weekend, inmates are invited to a gospel presentation where they are challenged to accept God’s forgiveness and to forgive others.

How can I help?

A major incentive for inmates to attend the gospel presentation are the homemade cookies they receive. As Kairos prepares to take the love of Jesus to the Toledo Correctional Institution, you can help by donating cookies.

See cookie and packaging requirements below. Bring your cookies to our Kairos table by Sunday, March 8.

Cookie and Packaging Requirements

Cookie Requirements

  • All cookies must be baked at home. No store-bought cookies are allowed into the prisons (i.e. bakery cookies, Chips Ahoy, Oreos, etc.)
  • You may use pre-mixed or frozen cookie dough from local supermarkets
  • No cookies with nuts, peanut butter, icing, or powdered sugar are allowed
  • Try to keep the cookies 2-3 inches in diameter so that the cookies are the same for everyone who receives them
  • Don’t overbake cookies. Overbaked cookies are more likely to break during transportation
  • Don’t use burned or blemished cookies

Popular and acceptable cookie types:

  • Chocolate chip
  • Snickerdoodles
  • Oatmeal
  • Molasses
  • M&M
  • Butterscotch
  • Plain sugar cookies
  • Rice Krispie treats

Packaging Requirements

  • Allow cookies to cool completely before packaging
  • Package 2 dozen cookies (24) into a one-gallon zip-lock bag. Please count carefully so that your cookies don’t need to be repackaged
  • Do not put your cookies on a plate
  • Do not include anything in the bag (notes, letter, pictures, etc.)
  • Do not write on the bag

*Bring your bagged cookies to our Kairos table by Sunday, March 8.
